This coin was produced to commemorate the 09-09-09 Multi-Event, when several Geocaching events were held around the world on 9th September 2009. Events were held in various US states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Washington; as well as in global locations: Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain (Mallorca) and the United Kingdom.
Coins were produced in several colour schemes for some of the various different events. This is a UK coin and I believe that it is one of the best, if not the best, design.
The reverse of the coin features "nine" in various different scripts. In silver starting from the top and working clockwise are Japanese, Hangul, Hebrew, Armenian, Bengali, Braille, Khmer, Arabic and Tamil. If you look closely at the blue sections between the silver characters you can see another two characters in each section. Working clockwise starting to the right of the Japanese character, they are: Tagalog, Thai; Telugu, Syloti Nagri; Octal, Devangari; Greek, Tibetan; Cherokee, Hmong; Lineal B, ASL; Binary, Limbu; Sinhala, Gujarti; Roman and Balinese.
