About This Item

More commonly known as the "Spirit of St Louis", the Ryan NY-P was flown by Charles Lindbergh from New York to Paris (hence the "NY-P".) Although not the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic, the 33 hour flight in 1927 was the first flight between major cities. Lindbergh not only won a $25,000 prize for his flight, but proved that trans-atlantic flight was possible, and opened commercial aviation to air routes between America and Europe.

    I just got back into Geocaching after a few years, and I want to thank everyone for taking care of this little plane. Special thanks to Whitebuck1 and JimBobK for making repairs. (And JimBobK's piloting skills at West Pasco!)
    I hope BLT can find a new cache location soon, so she can take-off again!
