I would like to see it at least go 3000 miles... :) A mandatory trip to Fenway at some point...

About This Item

This is a folk music travel bug. Listen to it in the car! Check out (visit link) for more singer info. I first heard him in concert at my college, and I was blown away... Strongly recommend catching him if he's in your area... Cheers!

We'd found Tombstone Lookout, so it was time to head up the hill to find Goldensides. The cache is located very close to a microwave repeater, installed in the 1990's to support communication to the facilities at Eagle Plains and to territorial government activities.

We found two large animal (caribou?) carcasses very near the cache. It seems that more was cached up there than geocaches!

We arrived at the Tombstone Mountain Campground shortly before midnight. It was a great drive up from Fox Lake Campground -- the weather was great, and road conditions (even on the Dempster Highway) were good. We saw two foxes, a porcupine, many hares, and a grizzly bear, all on the Dempster portion of the drive. We had a nice hike at Five Fingers Rapids, and stopped at Carmacks and the cultural center at Carmacks. We also stopped at the Pelly Crossing and Stewart Crossing settlements.

We woke up to a very warm sun, which had been up for hours and hours. We're far enough north now that the sun "sets" for minutes.

We found this cache after taking a nice nature / adventure hike at the Tombstone Mountain Campground.

This was our first (and only) cache of the day. We found this one about 0100, and headed to the Fox Lake Campground soon thereafter.

We were able to do a little caching, visit and shop in Whitehorse, and put a little distance on the North Klondike Highway while having a lot of fun.

By now, it was getting REALLY late (by my watch), so it was time to hit the road. We stopped by this virtual cache as we drove through town to get back on the Alaska Highway.

After we had a great meal at Sam 'n' Andy's, we figured we had enough time for a quick cache or two before the day was going to be getting too long. It's tough to keep a perspective on time when it's daylight nearly all day (night caching is not an option here, in the summertime!). We stopped by the Yukon Travel Bug Inn to grab a few travel bugs that had been sitting for quite a while.
