I smell no sea air here. But at least it is water. I'm headed north next week. Maybe I can get her near a lighthouse instead. She'll like that.

I found her inside a hollowed out tree near the Fox River in Geneva, IL. The snow was about shin deep today — can't imagine it's ideal weather for octopuses, but will find a nice spot for her soon! Pictures to come.

As the WascoZooKeeper has pointed out, there are not a lot of oceans around here. However, there is a lighthouse.

In the Fabyan Forest Preserve (http://www.kaneforest.com/fp/fabyan.asp) there is a small lighthouse along the Fox River. I don't know why the Fabyan's installed this lighthouse, but there it is!

Candella visited the lighthouse and then checked into the Kane County Travel Bug Hotel across the street.

The Travel Bug Fairy seems to have dropped this on my doorstep overnight -- literally! I'll get it into a cache as soon as I can so it can resume its journeys. Not too many oceans near Illinois, unfortunately.
