Dannebrog history, from Wikipedia
According to legend, Dannebrog fell down from the sky during the Battle of Lyndanisse (today Tallinn in Estonia) in the year 1208 or 1219 and (as Danish soldiers were almost beaten) humbly invoked God's help, when they obtained the grace that they immediately received a flag, which fell from the sky, drawn with a white cross on a woolen cloth.
