Stanstead Airport really is in the middle of nowhere. To fill in time before my flight, I decided it was a great idea to find a cache - in the dark, in the rain, along a country road, with a muddy path. Only had my phone torch and speeding cars’ headlights for help. Not one of my better ideas but the cache was found and you made it safely back to the hotel. Early to bed for an early morning start. 🛌

Grab your passport. Unfortunately, the plane leaves from London Stanstead Airport which is nowhere near London. Took the new Elizabeth Tube line into Liverpool Street Station but missed the connecting train so had some caching time. Mr Wombat’s old office would have looked over this cache. I’m glad to see that his Covid killed plants are no longer on his balcony. 🪴

I have not found a trad on today’s date so I limped cover to Chiswick House with you to fix that. The lovely grounds are usually a hot spot of locals strolling about with or without dogs but it was rainy today so the numbers were down. 🍁

And now to Amsterdam and to the Netherland’s oldest cache in Vondelpark. It’s been at least ten years since I was last in Amsterdam but not much has changed. Much less dog crap, even more bikes. Still very beautiful, one of my very favourite cities. 🚲

You have returned to Delft for some unfinished business. By the time I got there, the weather had turned grey with occasional showers. Found what needed to be found and enjoyed just meandering about with the weekend tourists. Hurried home before the Halloween witches, ghosts, and ghouls could grab me. Some great costumes and decorations to be seen. 🎃

On my own today so can really concentrate on caching. First up was completing my 5th calendar grid near Paleis Noordeinde in Den Haag, the official workplace of King Willem-Alexander since 2013. Then headed to an event where two of the cachers used to live just near me when I lived in Statenkwartier. Lovely and sunny but the change is coming. 5️⃣

The beautiful weather is holding and I’m still wearing a tee shirt. We hopped on the tram to Delft and enjoyed walking around the historic places. Seems my favourite poffertje restaurant is no longer in business though. Ended with a visit to Ikea for old times’ sake - a magnet for expats! 🥞

After a few days flitting around The Netherlands, I’m back in Den Haag, one of my old homes. I used to live not far from this cache years ago although it wasn’t there then. It does still feel like home as I walk around even though it’s been six years since my last visit. 🌷

Back on a train. A scour of the map showed me that this webcam was not too far away and you have to grab those webcams while you can. Nijverdal was a lovely little town. You were nearly staying there longer as there was a “Storing” - a word you quickly learn in Dutch. The trains had broken down leading to a lengthy delay. Could have cached for longer. 🤬
