Current Goal

Hi, the name is Gonzo. I used to appear on the Muppet Show but after my retirement I decided to put my fame to good ues and so now I travel around the world collecting stories and helping people along the way.

This is how I met the people who have given me this travel bug tag. One of them is a teacher in a secondary school in the Netherlands teaching English to teenagers with learning disabilities. These teenagers, as you can imagine, often have a bumpy road ahead of them. Learning English is not their main priority and so their teachers try anything to get them motivated for learning something, anything, new.

THE ASSIGNMENT:
Travel ONLY throughout the UK and meet as many people as you can. Ask the people you meet to report back by this travel bug tag and let them leave pictures, stories, recipes, songs, anything that has to to with the culture and history of the UK so that I can teach English to my students in a different way and help me getting them motivated!

So here I, Gonzo, am set for adventure. Ready to go where you take me, hoping to find good stuff to help these students. Please help me to complete my mission!

Please do not remove the travel bug tag from Gonzo and when you put Gonzo into a next cache please make sure the attached note is with him and he is in a plastic bag. This way he can go a lot of miles without getting wet or dirty completing his mission.

Gonzo here with an update on my travels. I’ve spent a little while sitting in a cache called 8lbs 2oz which is at Aylsham in Norfolk. I was picked up by Grasy, who happens to be a presenter on the local radio station. It was great for me to get back into a studio and hear all about North Norfolk, a quiet rural area. Unfortunately we didn’t get to play any of my old Muppet Show classic songs, but I did get to rock along with Lady GaGa and The Black Eyed Peas! My friends in The Netherlands might like to know that there are lots of celebrations here at the moment. The local football team, Norwich City, has just been promoted to The Premier League, the top football league in England. Thousands of people lined the streets of Norwich City to congratulate the players as they toured the city in an open top bus. Anyhow I’ve asked Grasy to send me back on my travels very soon, and he’s asked me to tell my friends back in The Netherlands that they can find out more about the radio station I visited at www.northnorfolkradio.com
