Current Goal

Teka would have loved this new hobbie. I know many dogs get to go geocaching, and this is my way of bringing my dogs along with me. Teka wants to travel around and visit many cache sites. Please post pictures of Teka with your dogs at home or while geocaching. She wants to stay near lakes, rivers or steams where she can go swimming. Please DON'T pick her up if you don't plan on Placing her SOON. Thanks

About This Item

Teka

Teka (Tequila Gold 1983-1994) In loving memory of a great dog. Teka was a pure blood Golden Retreiver. She didnt get those white circles around her eyes until she gave birth to 6 puppies. One she kept as her own and named her Stasha, who is also a travel bug. Teka and Stasha were best friends, often wrestling, playing tug of war, or just chasing each other around. Teka ran outside every morning, to the end of the driveway, to fetch the morning paper. She loved the water and was an excellent swimmer. Her favorite game was to stick her head in the water and dive for rocks. She went canoeing with us a few times and she had so much fun, until she got bite by a horsefly. After that, she attacked every fly she saw, almost leaping thru the front window a few times. Her other favorite game was to pick things off the floor and hold on to them until you gave her a treat-[see picture... thats a pen] She could do this cool trick where she could balance a treat on her nose and flip it into her mouth when told to do so. Teka has the 'copy' tag on her because the first cache she visited was destroyed/archieved. So please log her properly and keep her moving. Teka is deeply missed and forever loved. I hope you enjoy taking her caching, she would have loved it.Please post pictures of Teka with your dogs at home or while geocaching.

13 MONTH UPDATE:

I have one cat and two dogs that are travel bugs...And ~If they were racing for the longest distance travelled... STASHA WINS!!! TEKA Wins for being the fastest mover with 29 cachers!
Here are some totals:

STASHA = 8279 miles with only 10 cachers
SHERLOCK = 3465 miles with 20 cachers
TEKA = 2974 miles with 29 cachers

Some Highlights:
Both Teka and Sherlock tb's were destroyed in the very first geocache they were placed in...both remade and moved out to Colorado from Illinois. Stasha went international and is now stuck in Budapest, Hungary!! She has been there for 10 months! Stasha was found by my daughter in IL, then taken to Florida and passed to my son and brought back to Colorado!

Congratulations STASHA! We miss you and Teka So Much! Thanks to all who helped keep them close to our hearts and helped her Move so well through the game!!! Please help TEKA catch up in the distance race!

I'm sure Teka is in a special place. I have a 5 year old male Golden named Dakota who I've taken along on a couple caches. Will be placing this travel bug within a week, hopefully closer to Reno.

Picked this up from cat-face today, where it has been sitting (looking at the water) for quite some time. I'll take a picture of it next to a picture of our favorite dog of all time ("Bandit") which we still miss a ton many years later. (In fact, even our friends say he was the best dog they had ever met either). Not sure where I'm going to drop him yet, but I'll try to make it soon.

Mika, our beloved friend, passed away on May 3, 2004. The photo that we took of him to be posted on Teka's page was the last photo we had. Mika was a great pet, he wasn't so great with other animals though. In Cynthia Rylant's book, Dog Heaven, all dogs become good dogs. Maybe now Mika can play with other dogs. I hope Mika meets Teka in dog heaven.

Found Teka in a cache. I will post a photo of Teka with my dog Mika soon. Mika is too old to geocache, is practically deaf and only has one eye. At least I can get him involved in geocaching this way!

I am sure Teka was a great dog, those Golden Retrievers make great pets. I took this travel bug from Annadel park, which doesn't allow dogs, but will put it at Alston Park, which is set up especially for dogs and their owners. How's that, Teka? Love those doggys.
