About This Item

Hurricache bracelet.jpg

There was once a horrible hurricane named Katrina. She brought destruction and despair to the folks of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. People around the country wanted to help, but didn't know how.

Some special cachers in Texas started Operation Hurricache as a way for cachers around the country to reach out to those of us affected by Katrina. Together they gathered caching supplies and swag, toiletry items, school supplies, a special coin, and notes of care and encouragement, all packaged in a box with stickers showing where the various cachers lived. They made 100 of the Hurricaches and sent them out to us.

These little boxes didn't solve all our problems nor did they restore our houses, but they did touch us deeply. They were something good, something fun, when "good" and "fun" seemed to be just distant memories. They made us feel less alone, and they gave us hope.

This friendship bracelet from the Small Places Recreation Program at the Alabama Head Injury Foundation was part of our Hurricache. Attached to the bracelet was a card with a note, “May God bless you with the most beautiful future human eyes have ever seen!!” As a tribute to Operation Hurricache, we'd like to send the bracelet around to spread the word of what these folks did for us; the card’s staying home with us.

Dělám úklid ve fotkách. Opisuji a loguji TB vyfocené za posledních víc než 13 let různě po eventech a keších, kódy z logbooků, ze seznamů zveřejněných na eventech a podobně. Děkuji

This is such a meaningful travel bug, and I am honored to be a part of its journey. I hope that you folks have regained control and are moving towards your life BEFORE Katrina- please know that I along with millions sent many prayers on your behalf. God Bless You!!!

I am including a picture of the bracelet with my beautiful bulldog Pearl- not only is she beautiful to me and my life, but she has enriched the lives of many many people. I think she is fitting to honor this Travel Bug!!!
