Why Pootwaddle? I've been a fan of Spike Jones & His City Slickers since high school. This was a zany group of musicians and comedians -- they were the "Weird Al" or "Frank Zappa" of their day. If you don't know who they were, there are some good videos on YouTube.
Winstead Sheffield "Doodles" Weaver was a member of Spike Jones' troupe, as well as an actor and the uncle of Sigourney Weaver. One of his trademark "bits" was narrating a horse race with funny named horses - girdle in the stretch, mother-in-law nagging in the rear, toothpaste being squeezed out on the rail, etc.
He also used Pootwaddle as a nonsensical word. He would do parodies of commercials for "Pootwaddle Cigarettes" or "Pootwaddle Toothpaste." Also, in the Spike Jones song "Dance Of The Hours" he narrates a car race and has his "assistant Pootwaddle" down on the track. So, as a big fan I have adapted this moniker and only a few folks would recognize where it came from.
