Area 51 or bust!

Edit: May 2009: This alien's name is Alex, as he was originally retrieved from a cache near Alexandria, Ohio. Alex has been traveling since May 2003 - 6 years now! Alex started out in Ohio and finally made his way to his first goal location in Nevada. A friend took him in, let him rest up, and then took him on his first European vacation in centuries (his family helped build Stonehenge, but that was a while ago). Now Alex would like to visit the famous UFO-sighting location of Roswell, New Mexico, and be reunited with Team Donutdog. Please help him make his way there if you can!

Please don't write his "secret" tag number in your online log, lest the Men In Black use the tracking number to find him before he reaches his destination.

Thanks for helping this stressed-out extraterrestrial!

If I know Alex, I'd bet he is trying to claim that his relatives were responsible not only for the Hill abduction, but also for creating the Indian Head rock. You should know that aliens are prone to hyperbole, and I'd recommend taking what he says with a grain of salt.

Anyway, we can tell he's having a great time, because that's what makes him glow like that.

Indian Head
Site of 1961 Hill Abduction
Lincoln, New Hammpshire

When Alex found out that he was in New Hampshire, he realized that he needed to visit the site of the 1961 Alien Abduction of Betty and Barney Hill. I remembered reading of this still unexplained incident as a child, and decided I would make a special trip with Alex up to [URL=http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=be40b8ef-26ae-4a61-a4ee-2bc194c2ed60]Indian Head[/URL], as he was a milestone [URL=http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=768245a7-5756-49fc-a17e-1b3210d17c23]50th travel bug[/URL] for us.

For those of you that may be unfamiliar with "The Hill Abduction," it is the first documented Alien Abduction, and one of the most believable, and certainly most researched UFO cases, except for maybe the Roswell incident. Alex enjoyed his visit to Indian Head, but was disappointed to find no current evidence of any of his relatives. He's still eager to get out to Area 51.

We wish him the best, and hope he didn't mind this interruption of his journey! He'll find a new temporary home in another cache soon...

Even while he posed to have his picture taken in front of Indian Head, a thundercloud began to form directly behind the rock profile!

While we were taking pictures at the Pemi-Pothole, Alex began to glow in the most mysterious way! He said that he needed to get to Indian Head right away, and couldn't stay here at the pothole. Despite our repeated requests, he wouldn't explain why, but said he needed to leave immediately!

We brought Alex up here to the other-worldly spot of the Pemi Pothole, as it is the nearest cache to [URL=http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=be40b8ef-26ae-4a61-a4ee-2bc194c2ed60]Indian Head[/URL].

Found alien Alex in the Pulpit Rock cache in New Hampshire! Apparently this fellow needs to keep a GPS with him in order to be able to find the way to Nevada from Ohio! Going via NH isn't exactly the most direct route!

Alex sure has been around, though, visiting Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before taking a wrong turn near Albuquerque and ending up in New Hampshire... When he was in Arizona, he was only 329 miles away from Area 51; now he has a whopping 2309 miles to go!

We'll move Alex at least a little closer to Nevada, but he's going to have a long haul ahead of him. We wish him the best.

We thought that perhaps going through New Mexico was a bad choice, given the crash sites there, and that he had been the victim of an "alien abduction." Now it seems perhaps he just decided he likes "New" places...

Alex was reported MIA from the cache he was in, on the day after his one-year anniversary of being on the road. 😟 Hopefully whoever took him will place him in another cache, log having picked him up, or email us soon!
