To visit and have its photo taken at various sites in Sparta, Greece, and also to go to a minimum of 300 caches throughout Greece before returning home to Team FMA's I-94 Travel Bug Hostel. Please see the Description for details!
17-year-old Team FMA member M is planning on attending college at the home of the Spartans, Michigan State University. He therefore would like his very first TB to travel to Σπάρτη, Greece, the site of ancient Sparta. Today, Sparti serves as the administrative capital of the Greek prefecture of Laconia.
In Sparti, "Hail, Spartans!" would like to visit and have its photo taken at the Tomb of Leonidas; at the ruins of ancient Sparta; and with the statue of Leonidas, which bears the inscription "ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ," or "Come and get them!" This was the Spartans' reply to the Persians' demand that the Spartans lay down their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae. Once "Hail, Spartans!" has visited visited Sparti, M would like it to be placed in at least 300 geocaches in Greece, to commemorate the 300 Spartans that made their stand at Thermopylae. Not just visited, but placed, please!
Once its mission is accomplished, please send "Hail, Spartans!" back to Team FMA's I-94 Travel Bug Hostel in Chelsea, MI. M would love for his TB to be back in time for his 2015 graduation, but would welcome it back before then. Please do post photos of this TB's travels, especially in ancient Sparta and at other Greek sites!
