This is a "ATMEL ATmega8515" microcontroller. It is used in many of the devices which we are using every day like coffe-machines, cars, mobile phones, heaters, printers, ...
It´s similiar to a small computer without a display.
You can write your own programs for these microcontrollers and your creativity is limitless in the creation of algorithms to control different things...
Without this small devices, our daily life would be not so comfortable as it is.

Grabbed this TB from 1600 Technology. This is my first time logging a TB. My plan is to get it to the east coast in hopes that it gets back to Germany. Didn't realize the history of this TB until I got home to Corona, CA . I was in San Jose visiting my son. I stayed around the corner from the PacMan cache. Sorry I didn't realize I needed to take a picture. I hope this makes it home soon!

(Finally - sorry for the delay) tracked down the NEW Atmel HQ (1600 Technology Drive) and got this bug to its destination. Dropped it nearby (walking distance) at the Pac-Man birthplace for its long trip back home. I've got pictures at both OLD and NEW HQ, but can't figure out how to post them. Also, in our zeal to (finally) get this moving, I found I didn't log the traveler ID, so I can't properly log the pick-up or drop-off.

Picked up from RWC. Took to the destination in the log - BUT that turned out to be the OLD Atmel HQ. Will need to locate the new one and revisit. Also, can't figure out how to post photos!
