Current Goal

We started this travel bug after we found a key which was hidden by fourth graders as a part of their geography lesson. Our family thought this was a neat idea. We picked up three student's keys and with the permission expressed on the cache site (GC1CTED), we turned the keys into travel bugs for the students to watch their keys journey around the map! Two thumbs up to this school for thinking outside of the box and coming up with an exciting and engaging way to reach students. We hope that the students will enjoy watching their keys travel. This particular key was from H.B.

The mission of this travel bug is to travel far and wide to stay as active as possible for the student watching their key/trackable! I took your TB on a maintenance run to one of my caches in Centralia, PA (GC29BCR Tourist Information - Centralia Style). The cache is mounted on the tree in the attached picture. Centralia is the weirdest town... a ghost town really. Centralia is the site of a terrible underground mine fire that has been burning for decades. The government finally bought out most of the homes and leveled them. About 5 families refused to sell and remain there. Many people come to visit here... there isn't much to see except some evidence of the fire that still burns beneath. I noticed that one of the DeLorme grids that I was missing contained Punxsutawney, PA and since I was "in the area" I thought I would take a side trip to get a cache in this town famous for its February 2 annual celebrations. The location was relatively clear of muggles, but there was one maintenance guy there clearing some broken tree limbs, so I could not do a proper search.
