Current Goal

The V-Man is the mascot of the Verde news magazine at Palo Alto High School.

A story about geocaching was published in this magazine in October 2010 : http://voice.paly.net/node/24662.

Because it comes from a journalism publication, the V-man would like to meet as many other journalists, high school or professional, as possible. Travel to meet the big news-makers. Since journalism encompasses the whole world, the V-man wants to travel around the world and meet different people and different places.

To help record its travels, please upload photos of the V-Man wherever it may go.

Thank you.

Ok, had trouble figuring out the whole dipping/visiting a cache thing as this was a first attempt to do that (yes, I figured out is was really easy to do...after I mucked it up totally! I'm hoping I got everything back on track, so here it is, in Mexico! And here is the exploit your TB had with me today:

WOW!. That's the only way to describe this great day out to San Sebastian Del Oeste and the one and only cache up there, Stairway to Heaven, a new cache this year and we were second to find. First, love the double meanings in the cache title, the cemetary and the stairway to it and the fact we were heading up to the top o' the world on this trip. Being from California where closed gates mean closed, it took us a moment to find our way into this cache...through the gate, duh. Then of course as the title says, up the stairs (behind another closed gate...duh number 2). We happily dipped four TBs and exchanged a Disney pin for an datstayplay token. If you are stahlwart enough to make it this far, over hill over dale, over severly winding roads, unpaved roads and worse, over cobblestone roads (I had to put earplugs in against the roar the car made going over those...and I'm sure I'll make my chiropractor rich when I get home), be sure to go the extra thousand feet (ten minutes by car or five on foot--only kidding...I think) and visit the interesting little town of San Sebastian. Not to be missed is the tiny little place to buy coffee to your right as you come into town (La Quinta is the shop name). For the price of a tip you self serve a thimblefull of coffee that is grown and processed here, basically a taste to get you to buy, which it did. Hubby, newly into coffee, has been on the hunt for the past two years for great coffees, and he says this ranks in the top four...and it was only 4 dollars for a half pound. Try getting Starbucks to give you that deal. He says it beats coffees he's paid ten times that for. We ate at Lupita, immediately on the right just on the other side of a little stone bridge. We ate family style on the patio next to the stone wall that was the end of said bridge. Best Mole ever! Even hubby and mom, who whined that they didn't like mole, liked the mole. Complex flavors and not overly strong like in the US. Everyone also recommended the beans...Again Mom and hubby don't eat refried beans...or should I say didn't. They said if they tasted like this in the US they sure would. And finally we viewed the very pretty church. The silver shop, something of a disappointment. So there you go, a day in the life of a geocacher in San Sebastian area and your TB saw it all! I'm so thrilled someone put a cache up here and that we followed it. Caped Cavy Crusaders--AWAY!

  • The Adventures of V-Man V-Man visits Stairway to Heaven cache in San Sebastian De Oeste in Mexico. Gathering life experiences no doubt to become superjournalist. Go, V-Man, Go!
  • V-man in San Sebastian De Oeste V-man visits this old old old colonial town in the mountains near silver mines and coffee crops. This beautiful old church is the crown of this little town.
  • SideKick1 of the Caped Cavy Crusaders SK1 in the gazebo in the town square of San Sebastian.
  • V-Man's final resting place? Phew, just a visit. Fortunately V-man just visits this cache and makes it out to write the story. The cache is just beyond the little building upper right(ish).

Cool! Loved finding out that V-man was the mascot of a HS publication. I was the ed. in chief on my HS lit mag. Also a professional editor today...though if you read my logs you couldn't tell! I never proof 'em (hey, this is supposed to be play not work!). So V-man and the Caped Cavy Crusader can hang out a bit. Maybe go on some daring rescues together as we look for the perfect place to send V-man on his way.
