Was at Lake Manawa hunting caches with MMCachers today. We also were looking for good spots to place a couple of new caches. As we walked from one place to another we passed a fire ring. She wondered if I had this TB with me and yes, I did! Since she's been active with scouts (both of her children), and has known for a long time that I wanted to try using the TB to start a fire, she was carrying some Vaseline covered cotton balls in a container. It was very windy earlier today and we were aware of possible fire danger issues, but we weren't planning to burn anything other than a few wisps of one of the cotton balls and the wind had begun to die down this afternoon. She carefully picked out a couple of wisps of cotton, stuck them to a rock, placed the rock inside the fire ring, and showed me how to spark the fire-starter while I took photos. Very cool! Then, because I'd been taking photos and not using the TB myself, she handed it back to me and I struck some sparks as well. We made sure the rock was cool and there wasn't any fire left (we hadn't lit any kindling or wood or charcoal) and I passed the TB to her to put inside the next incarnation of Red Pig. Lots of fun. Thanks for allowing me to hold on to this TB for so long!
