About This Item

A Scout is Kind

This travel bug was originally released in 2011 by my son to help him earn the geocaching merit badge.  Its' purpose was to share about the scout law. Sadly it went missing after only traveling a short time.  I was inspired to recreate a similar TB and re-relase it with my now EAGLE SCOUT sons on our first trip to Hawaii.

It is a red heart that says a scout is kind and now has a duplicate TB tage attatched.  The original one pictured had a 100 years of scouting tag attached to it.

Retrieve It from a Cache 9/10/2011 Silverrose83 retrieved it from Dogwood Trail New York   Visit Log

Retrieved from Dogwood trail. Sorry I couldn't think of a good deed for the day. I will continue it's journey further west.

Sorry for the delay but I wasn't able to go geocaching for awhile -- too busy trying to get my 2 kids off to college. Had to do many, many good deeds while packing them up and getting them ready to go. Dropped both kids off this past weekend so now its time to geocache again... Found a perfect spot for your TB today. The Dogwood Trail cache is one of many owned by a good friend of ours, Scouter Mark, and it is located in one of our favorite parks close to home, Oatka Creek Park. Scouter Mark was a leader and Scoutmaster for my son's BS Troop for all the years he was in it. I'm sure it will be discovered again soon as this park is used regularly.

Was pleased and surprised to find this TB in the FTF Cache today. There were actually lots of TBs in the cache, but when I noticed that this one was specifically associated with Scouting, I had to retrieve it and move it along. You see, I have been a Girl Scout Leader for the last 13 years and my troop just graduated from Girl Scouts and High School this year (*Sniff*). In addition, for the last 9 years I've been a Service Unit Manger of over 50 Girl Scout troops. My husband and son were involved in Boy Scouting for 12 years -- son went all the way to Life Scout - until he graduated 3 years ago. So we are definitely destined to move this one along. Will try to find an appropriate new home for it...

Discovered It 8/7/2011 Patriot Games discovered it   Visit Log

Discovered after visiting the Civil War Re-enactment. It's nice that the scouts added the merit badge for geocaching.

We grabbed this from the first cache we found this year on vacation at Long Beach Island, NJ. Very nice TB and love the thought behind it. One of the Potter Trekies is currently a Boy Scout in Troop #19, and another of us is a past Scout, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Scoutmaster for Tay House Troop #19, in Rochester, NY. We will move this along soon.
