Current Goal

A copy of the coin that sadly vanished from a cache at the seaside and then the copy was kept for 16 months by someone who has given up caching.

This Geocoin’s mission is to visit a cache in every county in Great Britain and then to visit a cache in every country that was part of the British Empire. Photos would be great and will create a visual diary of the coin's travels. Thanks.

Please can you keep this coin moving and not keep it in a backpack for more than a couple of weeks.

About This Item

The Geocoin

Originally a glorious geocoin that cost a fair chunk of cash and was a present. Now a laminated paper copy of the coin that starts its second life in a small spotty organza bag.

The base metal of the coin is in silver and Britannia is sculpted in 3D plated in Gold effect metal to give her an amazing look. It has a hole off to one side that has been threaded with a chain attaching the coin to a keyring detailing its mission for geocachers who don’t have instant internet access out in the wilderness.

The rear of the coin has some information about the British Empire in its hey day and Lord Kitchener’s famous quote, "Your country needs you". It also has the following message written around the edge: REBUILDING THE EMPIRE ONE CACHE AT A TIME

The message on the reverse of the coin simply reads:-
By 1921, the British Empire held sway over a population of about 458 million people.
Approximately one-quarter of the world's population. The sun never sets on the British Empire.

This Geocoin was a gift to celebrate my 600th find, is heavier than it looks and measures 4cm in diameter.
