If you can not come to paradise, I will bring it to you.
- Don the Beachcomber (inventor of the tiki bar)
The current goal of this portable tiki bar travel bug is the same as the goal of that very first tiki bar: to bring paradise to you. You might be at a backyard luau, OTR, a cave explorers convention, see us tailgating before a concert or at a geocachers event; find it, come on over and have a refreshing pineapple shooter, a Mai Tai or even a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade, then log it as discovered.
The world's first tiki bar was opened on December 5, 1933, the same day alcohol was re-legalized in the USA after the 13 years of darkness called prohibition had ended. It was opened by master mixologist Don the Beachcomber who's drink creations like the zombie are still popular today. Unfortunately few people have ever tasted perfectly mixed tiki cocktails, the solution to that problem is an authentic tiki bar that can fold up and move to wherever it is needed, like a travel bug does.
About the same time Dave Ulmer was hiding the worlds first geocache, I began making my folding portable tiki bar. It traveled to it's first party in the summer of 2002 and has been moving around and spreading happiness ever since. Finding it can be a challenge, it can't attend most events or fit into very many geocaches, but the rewards for finding this TB are great also.
