A much needed afternoon adventure, after the hard concussion of reality hitting us. After a nice three day getaway to see a new part of the country, we returned to KL for a soft blow of a Monday, and then a four day work week which was hard to fathom. But alas, all things come to an end; and even the first week back has a lovely Friday to make things a little better. Because of the EFP happenings, Laura managed to permissibly sneak from work two hours early, while I still had a lot to do. As I was riding home alone, I took this opportunity to work until I felt work was finished, which was half an hour later than everyone else. I got things done, felt a little accomplished, and made productivity just a bit easier on myself. As my concentration was dwindling, I looked in the calendar and saw that for our challenges, we needed a T1 cache today. There was one along my drive home, but I didn’t want to go with the easiest opportunity. I noticed this one which was in the opposite direction, and with one DNF, I had some doubts. But I had the backup in mind, and as such asked Waze for directions. What was shown as a 21 minute drive ended up being 10 minutes flat, which I very much appreciated. The skies were dark and while riding solo, I was very afraid of a torrential downpour, and while the smell of petrichor was in the air, I managed to ride to GZ dry. Once I got to GZ, I kept looking around, and found nothing at the obvious place. Damn, was the stash really missing?
I looked around and saw that there was a second place which matched the hint. I circled again and found nothing! Shucks, I was about to draft a DNF when I checked in the very last spot and there I spotted it. I grabbed the stash, and took it away, logging in peace just a little further from GZ. I unrolled the logsheet, which is in good condition and exactly 50% full, and inked in our nick. I snapped a photo and as I wanted to return the stash, I remembered the hint. Wait; this was magnetic! How in the world did it hold there, if nothing here is magnetic?!
I had absolutely no clue, and searched around looking for what could have made this magnetic. Only as a last resort, I returned to GZ, where I found the magnet stuck to the host. I was flabbergasted, as I had no idea how this was attached, how it held, or how any of this worked. But with some quick thinking, removing the magnet and placing it into the container; I got it back where I had found it exactly. From here, it was a smooth drive back to Laura, who was rejuvenated from a slightly shorter week and her nap. I’m glad I could have ticked off a small part of the map by visiting this stash!
