About This Item

This is the first in a series of geocoins produced by the City of Roseburg Parks and Recreation Division.

Roseburg is becoming an increasingly popular vacation destination for both Oregonians and out-of-state visitors.

Centrally located to camping, fishing, the high Cascades and Crater Lake, as well as the beautiful Oregon coast, the world-famous Wildlife Safari and activities ranging fromwhite water rafting to just plain relaxing, Roseburg offers something for everyone.

Located in Southwestern Oregon, Roseburg is a part of the hundred valleys of the Umpqua. In Roseburg, you can climb a mountain, raft a river or catch a salmon in some of the most picturesque areas of the Pacific Northwest. It is a part of a water wonderland crowned by the world famous Umpqua River. The gentle climate creates limitless recreational opportunities among lush forests and cascading waterfalls. With only 19 people per square mile, Roseburg has many unspoiled areas to explore.

There are a wide variety of touring and shopping activities available. Start with the Wildlife Safari by stalking wild animals with your camera at North America's foremost exotic zoological park. Stop by the Safari education center and theatre, then feed some animals at the children's petting zoo. Get a taste of Douglas County by touring some of the region's many wineries, which grow chardonnay, pinot noir, getwürztraminer, riesling, zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon varietals. Finish by returning to Roseburg, where you'll find a shopper's paradise. Featured is a historic church, stained glass and all, that has been converted into shops. Nearby are various boutiques loaded with unique items that are sure to catch your eye. Or check out the Umpqua Valley Arts Center, where the works of many of the local artists are displayed.

Took a drive out here and found this coin in a cache by the River. Looks like the perfect place to leave a coin with a fish on it. Moving up to the Springfield area.
