IMPORTANT:
This geocoin is currently being circulated as a proxy/copy. That is, it is not the actual, original coin. The original coin is in my possession. Why would anyone send out a proxy/copy instead of the original? Because geocoins are often expensive for my family’s budget, I don’t want to take the risk that the actual coin is stolen or goes missing (as is so often the case with geocoins). If you disagree with such a practice, I simply ask that you leave the proxy/copy be. However, if you still want to receive the credit for finding it (i.e., the icon), you may log its tracking number before moving it along. Thanks and happy caching!
The original geocoin is part of the Compass Rose Geocoin series. The front features a compass rose. As per compassrosegeocoin.com, the back of the coin “features the historic and legendary islands of the Azores: an amazing archipelago of lush islands in the mid-Atlantic, each with its own individual character and charm. This volcanic chain of islands has a rich history as an essential and strategic waypoint in the travels of explorers, pioneers, and pirates alike. Legends also tell of an even deeper history that suggests these islands might very well be the remnants of a once powerful ocean empire...the lost continent of Atlantis!

This was left at my "Celebrating my 500th DNF" event cache. I can either move it out into another cache locally sometime soon or else send it with a friend who will be moving to New Caledonia in the South Pacific islands. Unless I hear otherwise from the owner in the next week, I'll plan on sending it with him on an airplane ride to warmer climes. Thanks for sharing!

Nice looking coin. I'm glad it is circulated as a proxy. Viewed at the CRS98 500th DNF event today. It was picked up and will be in active circulation again soon.
