Current Goal

To celebrate five years of Wherigo and serve as a delimiter between the first five years of stagnation and the new age of Wherigo.

You can discover this during the rare times I bring it to events or by proxy if you are directly involved with Wherigo.

About This Item

Kaine with the Friend of the Frog award
On the night of January 14, 2008, I was sitting in a restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida, eating supper in preparation to doing a night cache for my 5K milestone.  I checked email on my PDA and the subject line "Wherigo - moderating the forum?"  I had been spending a good deal of time in the Wherigo forum, helping anyone who needed help and making meaningful contributions to discussions.  Wherigo had only been out for two weeks at that time.  I considered the offer and replied, saying I didn't mind as long as I could continue helping others as I had been.  This was how and why I became a volunteer for Groundspeak.

Five years later, I received this award to commenorate the occasion.  I have had a wonderful time.  I lost track of how many people I have helped.  The forum remains a paradise where anyone can post and contribute without fear of what others will say (unless you fear being helped in earnest).  I am proud of the Wherigo forum community.

The anniversary of my fifth year is also a delimiter between five years of not seeing a Wherigo update and my founding of the Wherigo Foundation, which worked behind the scenes in early 2013 to make great strides in changing the game of Wherigo late that year.  Only time will tell how this will affect my position and the world as a whole.
