Current Goal

***** RECALL *****
Please direct this geocoin toward GCWQJK ("Dead Pixels") alongside I-75 in Estero, Florida. Any Fort Myers/Naples area cache can be used as an alternate.

Old goal: Uter is an exchange student, as apparent by the Gump haircut and the lederhosen. Help Uter see the sights.

Uter particularly likes anything European, and anything to do with food. Overseas travel is okay; in fact, he wouldn't mind enjoying a schnitzel at Oktoberfest.

About This Item

Uter

As with all travelbugs, try to place this back in another cache within a week (two at the most) of acquiring it. This allows a larger number of people to be able to find the travelbug(s) and assist them on their travels. If you have a particular location in mind you would like to take Uter which may require more than a couple weeks, send me a quick e-mail. I'm usually in a very accepting mood when I know what's going on. Thanks in advance.

We might drop Uter in German-Texas New Braunfels tomorrow, or take him back to the Houston area where his chances of hopping a flight to Germany would probably be fairly good. We'll see how it goes.

I'd tried to leave Uter in a cache in New Braunfels, a mostly German heritage town about 50 miles from our home in San Antonio, but there was a hurricane that blew in during the week that we were up there to cache (perhaps you heard something about it). I'm not able to get up there again to place him, so I've left him in a local cache, in the hope that someone can get him closer to his goal. He's in a largely hispanic city, which while not what he's shooting for, is certainly a multicultural stop for his travels.

We tried to place Uter in a cache in New Braunfels, just south of Austin, where it's still very German oriented. However, there was a hurricane blowing in from the coast yesterday while we were in the area, so didn't get out to place him in a cache. As you can see, though, we are keeping him well fed on familiar food. If he's with us much longer, we'll have to get photos of him at the Mexican restaurants here, as well. Hope to have him placed by the weekend; sorry for the delay.

  • Old World Deli Great place! We stopped in tonight for sauerbraten and schnitzel. Uter was on his best behavior, lest the lady that runs the place crack the whip on him. We've been coming here for a decade. We were first impressed when coming here, because they hang out their 100% health inspection sheets for everyone to see. Stop by if you're in San Antonio.

Going to take Uter to the areas of Texas where they still speak German, to make him feel at home. Will send him bck on his way north after that, since you can't go much further south.

  • Harry & Bud's Tasty European Cuisine Here, Uter threatens to punch me if I do not take him for brunkfast (the meal between breakfast and brunch) at a Terre Haute area restaurant featuring European cuisine. He ran up a $90 bill, and did not offer to leave the tip. Needless to say, dumping the portly little financial liability became a top priority.
