This travel bug is in memory of Isaac Davis(c. 1758–1810) was from Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He travelled across the Pacific, but was forced to stop in Hawaii in 1790
Its mission is to follow in its namesakes explorer and travel back to the USA's 51st State (Hawaii) and hopefully return home one day!
Isaac Davis was from Wales and was an advisor to Kamehameha I and helped form the Kingdom of Hawaii. He arrived in Hawaii in 1790 as the sole survivor of the massacre of the crew of The Fair American. He was a seaman on the American schooner engaged with a larger companion ship, the Eleanora, in the maritime fur trade between the Pacific Northwest and China.
He brought western military knowledge to Hawaii and played a big role during Hawaii's first contacts with the European powers.
The travel bug is part of a family of explorer travel bugs who are retracing the footsteps of great explorers set on their way by GJJLK.
