Ranger Rog's Rapids Rescue
Original Description 8/7/2011
The Minneapolis Street Railway began in 1887 because of the unpopularity of steam locomotives operating on city streets. By 1891 the line was electrified and the old steam trains were sold. In 1892 the Mpls St. Ry. Was operated and owned by the Twin City Rapid Transit Company. In 1949 investor Charles Green gained control of the company and announced a goal of complete conversion to buses by 1958 (it was completed by 1954). The Minnesota Streetcar Museum now operates Streetcar No. 1300 through cooperation with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
