My mission to have my picture taken opening as many different types of beer as possible. Please use me to open a bottle and take a picture, then upload it to the gallery. I'm one of many bottle opener travelers in a race to open the biggest variety of beers, so please be sure to put me back in a new cache!
The Redhook Ale Brewery was founded in Seattle, WA in 1981. The first brewery location was an old transmission shop in the Ballard neighborghood of Seattle. Currently Redhook has brewery locations in Woodinville, Washington and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Redhook ESB is the current flagship beer and has been offered since 1987. The original Redhook Ale was nicknamed "Banana Beer" by the local beer drinkers of Seattle. The first few batches had an "exotic" taste similar to bananas. In the early days of craft brewing there were few resources to consult with to figure out why this was happening. Further experimentation with subsequent batches using a different yeast strain resulted in a "cleaner" taste profile without the banana flavor, and a more refreshing and sessionable ale. Many people in Seattle still fondly reminisce about those early days of craft beer when they could go to their local pub to drink a fresh pint of their strangely appealing banana beer.
