Gaustatoppen is the highest mountain in the county Telemark in Norway. The view from the summit is impressive, as one can see an area of approximately 60,000 km², one sixth of Norways mainland. There is an elevator system inside the mountain, built for military purposes, that lately has become accessible to the public. This ascends from the base of the mountain almost to the summit. The mountain is popular for downhill skiing in winter, and competitions have been held on its slopes. These competitions include the "Norseman triathlon", 'Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, billed as "the world's most brutal iron-distance triathlon. It starts in Eidfjord and finishes at the top of Gaustatoppen." The summit is relatively easily accessible on foot in the summer, on a rocky pathway, although the southern side of the mountain is very dangerous and inaccessible. The wreckage of an airplane crash lies there, as it is too difficult to remove it.

This beautiful coin retrieved today. Well the Neteherlands are not that famous for there high mountains and certainly isn't Noord Holland. Nebertheless we will try to find somethings high in this part of Holland. Greetings Willy+Francina

De Vaalserberg is een heuvel bij het Nederlandse dorp Vaals, met een hoogte van 322,5 meter boven NAP. Vlak bij de top van de berg ligt het Drielandenpunt, waar Nederland, België en Duitsland aan elkaar grenzen. De top van de Vaalserberg is het hoogste punt van Europees Nederland. The Vaalserberg is a hill near the Dutch village of Vaals, with a height of 322.5 meters above sea level. Near the top of the mountain lies the tripoint where the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany contiguous. The top of the Vaalserberg is the highest point of the European Netherlands. (Google translate) After visiting the "highest point" of the Netherlands, we have left the coin to travel further.
