The long-range bomber once part of the 306th Bomb Wing based in McCoy Air Force Base, was built in 1956 and retired in 1984. The park was dedicated in April 17, 1985, “To the men and women of the 306th Bomb Wing and the citizens of the Orlando area in memory of the long-standing, close relationship which existed between the members of the USAF Strategic Air Command and this community between 1957 and 1974.”
