You are holding a plastic black horse now as it is mk3. This is a relaunched trackable since an unscrupulous cacher has stolen the original and mk2 I put out.

The original Beauty was a midnight black plush toy horse standing approx 10cm tall. She had a white blaze on her forehead, a fluffy mane and tail and very bright eyes. She was named for one of my favourite childhood books, Black Beauty, by Anna Sewell.
 

The narrator of the story is a handsome black horse who begins his career as a carriage horse for wealthy people but passes through the hands of a series of owners, some cruel, some kind. He always tries his best to serve humans despite the circumstance. This story was also made into a TV series and I adored it. At the bottom of our garden was a field that was home to different horses and ponies from the village, and although I used to feed them apples, I never had a ‘Beauty’ of my own until now.

 In place of reins she has a cacher's chain joined to her TB and a small keyring that explains her mission to those geocachers who don't have instant internet access out in the woods and fields!

Although allergic to horses, they always seem to make a beeline for me when caching takes me near or into a horse's paddock. Is it my animal magnetism or the packet of peppermints in the side pocket of my backpack? As a generous soul I always share my peppermints with the creatures and cachers I meet, but with all the sneezing and itchy eyes I keep all the handkerchiefs to myself!!
