Derfor egner bretonen sig godt som både jagthund og familiehund. Kendetegnede for bretonen er, at den optræder som et naturligt medlem af familien. En godt præget breton er meget børnevenlig og kommer godt ud af det med andre hunde. Dens alsidighed og sind har gjort den populær hos mange danske jægere og deres familier.
Bretonen is a medium sized dog that measures approx. 47-50 cm for females and 47-51 cm for males. It should be compact and square.

Bretonen is a light and lively dog that is characterized by its great hunting pleasure. He loves to retrieve both on land and in water, it is easily trained and has a good disposition. Therefore suitable bretonen well as both hunting dog and family pet. Characteristic for bretonen is that it acts as a natural member of the family. A well characterized breton is very child-friendly and get along well with other dogs. Its versatility and mind has made it popular with many Danish hunters and their families.
