Current Goal

Tailgunner would like to visit USAF bases around the world, but would be just as glad to visit as many caches as he could. Tailgunner's ultimate goal is to fly in a USAF jet.

About This Item

Tailgunner is being released in memory of my old friend Bob Compton, a tailgunner on a B-17 during WWII in Europe. Bob earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and other medals during his 25 missions. Bob and his crew were shot down twice over the ocean and were in a few famous missions.Bob was a true friend and will be missed by many.

I could not find a plane, but I did find a flying object - an Air Medic Copter - that is now attached to the tag. Adding a little glue to the chain connection so hopefully the tag doesn't lose its companion again. We will be headed north on Saturday to rack up some miles over several days.
