Goodbye Travel Bug ( My World ), I’ve dropped you off in Bakewell, the biggest village in the the Peak District. It’s swamped by tourists so it was nice to walk out to this peaceful cache on the River Wye. Good luck. 🥧

Glorious sunny weather but temperatures of around freezing on the hill tops today. You climbed to the top of Mam Tor, a 517m hill overlooking the Hope Valley. It is made of layers of unstable shale that keep landsliding. Its name means Mother Mountain due to all the slippage piles. Amazingly, despite the well known land slides, there used to be a road on the mountain but maintaining it proved impossible. Super muddy and slippery on the path down to Hope village. 🥾

A weekend away in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire for you. The Peak District National Park was the first national park to be designated in the United Kingdom, on 17 April 1951. You are staying in the pretty village of Castleton and catching up with friends. Happy birthday Lisa! 🐏

An event to celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who and what better place than at the TARDIS in Earl’s Court, London. I live in the same suburb as the 10th Doctor so seven degrees of separation effectively means I’m a Time Lord too and by extension, you are a Trackable Time Lord. 🛸

A Porte Cochère (French "Coach Getaway"), is a covered porch-like structure at a main entrance to a building, through which a horse and carriage could pass to provide arriving and departing occupants protection from the elements. There is a lovely one at Marylebone Station. Today’s walk also took you past the original Lord’s Cricket Ground. I didn’t realise there was an original (and indeed a second before the one we know now) nor that it was named after Thomas Lord, a cricketer who bought the land. 🏏
