I'm an old seaman from Maine and I want to travel across this great country to the Pacific Ocean and back to Maine, but I would like to visit many sites in between and have me picture taken like in the one I have here taken in Bucksport Harbor across from Fort Knox in Bucksport, Maine. I don't mind the sea matey, but I don't much care to leave the ground, so keep me feet planted on solid ground or the deck of a ship. When I reach the Pacific, would you take me picture and post it here laddie, so that I might remember our good times together? Thanks shipmates for all your help in my quest. After laying over near the Pacific, move me in the direction of the Gulf of Mexico where I would like to have me picture taken. Thanks matey.
Moving about the 7 seas is not out of the question. Are you with me matey?

Discovered this in 'California Welcome Center' - Yucca Valley (GCK625). There were others in this cache that had not been properly logged also. Hope this helps.

Ah, the old seafarer finally made it to the beach just in time to watch a cloudy sunset over Cook Inlet in Alaska. Back in 1778 the famous world explorer Captain James Cook sailed past this very beach on his way up this 180 mile long body of water while searching for the Northwest Passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Sixty miles further up the Inlet and he realized this was a dead end and had to turn around. That location in Cook Inlet is named "Turnagain Arm" in recognition of this event and is a popular sightseeing spot for folks to watch beluga whales feed on baitfish and salmon and watch bore tides roar up the arm.
Time for old Salty to set sail for the Gulf Coast now that the hurricane threat has passed by.

Since he is an "old salt" (and bored with southern California now) I figured he should see a bit of seafaring history before heading for the Gulf Coast. Old Salty will be gazing soon upon the very waters that Captain Cook once sailed past (twice!) in his attempt to discover the fabled Northwest Passage. More on that bit of history when Salty gets to the beach.
