New Hampshire, USA has 48 mountains over 4,000' (1,200 m) high. Since 1957, the Appalachian Mountain Club has awarded nearly 10,000 hikers admission to the AMC Four Thousand Footer Club for climbing all 48 peaks in a lifetime.
Mt. Jackson (4,052' or 1,235 m) is part of the Presidential Range. These are the highest mountains in NH, and many are named for US Presidents. However, Mt. Jackson was named, not for Andrew Jackson, but for Charles Thomas Jackson, who was the NH state geologist in the 19th century. The Appalachian Trail, a 2,170 mile trail from Georgia to Maine, passes directly over the summit of Mt. Jackson. Mt. Jackson has great views from the summit.
Mt. Jackson may climbed alone, or in combination with Mt. Webster. Mt. Webster is not a 4,000'er at only 3,911', but is also on the Appalachian Trail. If climbed alone, the usual route is to take the Jackson Branch of the Jackson-Webster Trail. This hike is 5.2 miles round trip with 2,150' of climb. It is a tougher climb than it sounds, since it alternates some flatter sections with some very steep one. As a combination hike with Mt. Webster, the usual route is to take the Jackson-Webster Trail, which starts in Crawford Notch and makes a loop over both summits before returning to the main trail. This hike is 6.5 miles with 2,500 feet of climb, and allows great views from both summits.
