WE dropped our kayaks in the water today and with the promise of a perfect day set out. Our first challenge was to time the crossing where all the boats were heading out of the harbour. A break came and we made a mad dash. The beach was awesome. A lone man in a canoe and then a speed boat with two women landed and all was quiet. Then two guys and two dogs... Big dogs.. WE headed across the island admiring the views and the outhouse and grabbing a little trash. Very little we are happy to say. This cache was found quickly by Tagalong and after such a long quiet time was put away again. We went for the other cache, which I found and returned to the beach. We had a swim and a chat with the ladies while the guys and their dogs took a walk. As we packed up to go two canoes loaded with people and a dog arrived as well ask another kayak . Perfect time to leave. AS we pulled away we were treated to a very aggressive dog fight between the new arriving and the ones that had already been here. THe smaller of the first two was the aggressor and he was not easily pulled off the other dogs, I'm glad we timed this trip nicely. The kayak back was less eventful as we wandered around the other islands and made our way back closer to Ganges.
We rescued this little fellow from the cache that sees very little traffic. We could here her plaintive cries as we approached GZ. We thought at first it was just the wind in the Garry Oaks, but no,,,, when we looked closer we found the cache and little Beike Bear pounding on the Lock and lock trying to attract our attention. Beike came for a swim with us before we kayaked around Ganges Harbour and back to our launching site. WE will be moving Beike to the mainland and pop her in a place that gets a little more traffic so she can travel further. PHotos will follow. ( The cameras is charging. )
