Current Goal

This specially designed Mini-Shuttle Discovery trackable is originally being deployed on 9/11/13 to help the MARS ROVER (Traveling Cache #1 – http://coord.info/GCC6B) with a little problem moving to its next location.  Mini-Shuttle Discovery is a miniature of the Discovery space shuttle with sufficient rocket and booster tanks attached to complete the planned mission, namely to move the MARS ROVER from the "To 10 and Back" multi-cache to a particular destination the Rover is incapable of reaching under its own embedded transportation system.

After completion of Mini-Shuttle Discovery's inaugural mission, whether it continues with the MARS ROVER or is left behind or is launched on a new independent mission is up to the next mission planners.   Ultimately the Mini-Shuttle Discovery TB would like to travel millions of miles by traversing the entire solar system, i.e., make special visits to caches with planet, asteroid, etc. names in their titles – not just Mars.   (OTOH, the designers of  Mini-Shuttle Discovery do not believe reaching other solar systems is viable until and unless near-speed-of-light travel is achieved, and they believe that breakthrough is much further out than the design lifetime of Mini-Shuttle Discovery.  Even travelling millions of miles in our solar system may be a stretch...)

About This Item

Min-Shuttle Discovery

Mini-Shuttle Discovery TB stands approx. 5" tall with its rocket & boosters attached, and the entire assembly is 2.5" in circumference, meaning it can only land in caches at least size 3 (regular) or 4 (large).  Mini-Shuttle Discovery would love to fly by ("visit") many other caches.
