To race its counterpart Ford Model T across the world; drawing attention to Henry Ford and his auto racing tradition.
Ford Motor Company has a long tradition of auto racing. It was Henry Ford’s early race victories that motivated investors to fund the incorporation of Ford Motor Company in 1903. To honor this tradition, two trackable toy cars have been released from Henry Ford’s hometown of Dearborn, Michigan to race across the globe. Each toy car is a 1917 Ford Model T Runabout. The race began on July 30, 2013, the 150th anniversary of Henry Ford’s birth, and will continue as long as geocachers continue to move the cars from cache to cache. You can help the car in your care get ahead by moving it a long distance & by placing it quickly into a very active cache. If you’ve got long-distance travel plans, consider holding it till then so the car travels many miles while in your care if doing so doesn’t keep this car out of the race for too long. This page will be updated periodically with progress of the race by keeping track of the distances traveled between the caches each car visits. May the car driven by better geocachers lead this race!
