POLKA ***** POLKA***** POLKA
The saying in CLEVELAND, OHIO, U.S.A. is , "There are more Slovenians in Cleveland than in Ljubljana" Slovenia. We are not certain if this is true but there is no denying Slovenian influence on Cleveland culture---from Frank Yankovic to Slovenian astronaut Sunita Williams taking Cleveland's Azman's signature sausage to the space station aboard the space shuttle.
Cleveland is not only home to the world famous Cleveland Orchestra and the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame", it is also home to the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame (http://www.clevelandstyle.com). Cleveland is a melting pot of many talented European immigrants that brought their rich musical heritage with them. Although Cleveland-style polka has it roots in Slovenian folk music, it is heavily influenced by German and Polish music as well, combining the muisc of central Europe.
This travel bug is to commemorate our 2013 family vacation to Slovenia and to share with other cachers some of the happiest music in the world.
