This is one of a series of heart-shaped items obtained from different places and converted into travel bugs.  They are named either for their place of origin or for Texas Panhandle-South Plains towns with interesting names or histories.
 
Bovina is a city in Parmer County. The population was 1,874 at the 2000 census. The site of present town was originally the Hay Hook Line Camp of the XIT, the famed ranch that received over 3,000,000 acres of state land in payment for building Texas State Capitol. When the railroad came to the area, it became the shipping point for XIT livestock.  A community grew out of this activity.  Train crews called the place "Bull Town", but the citizens chose the name "Bovina" when establishing the post office in 1899.  During that period more cattle were shipped out of Bovina than any other place in Texas.

This TB did indeed go to another couple of Caching events but did not get lost. Will travel along with me until it finds a good cache to jump in. It was retrieved from Concord NH- our state capitol and is now in Lochmere NH in the Lakes Region of the state. Will travel to a different state tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
