About This Item

GeocacheAlaska! Sourdough Nametag

This tag should not be released to travel on its own, as it is intended to be worn by the Sourdough Member to whom it was assigned.

GeocacheAlaska! Inc. is a non-profit organization that was created to promote geocaching as an exciting, family-oriented outdoor activity that increases awareness and use of Alaska's public parks and trail systems. We provide opportunities for the geocaching community to enjoy geocaching in Alaska and to meet and socialize with other geocachers. We increase awareness of geocaching issues in Alaska through interaction with other outdoor activity groups, clubs, organizations, and the public. We educate geocachers on proper geocaching methods and promote stewardship of our natural resources through low impact geocaching activities. We educate other outdoor enthusiasts and user groups about geocaching and represent geocaching interests in public forums and to recreation land managers. And we actively promote the "Cache In - Trash Out" (CITO) program to help in the maintenance of public parks and trail systems and foster good working relationships with land managers.

Once activated by GeocacheAlaska! for a new Sourdough Member, this tag was virtually dropped into GeocacheAlaska!'s first official Event cache in Anchorage as a mileage starting point. The physical tag was then mailed to the Sourdough Member and the ownership of the trackable on geocaching.com was adopted out to the new Sourdough Member. The tag now belongs to the Sourdough Member and GeocacheAlaska! respectfully requests that the name and description of this trackable is not deleted or altered. The Sourdough Member is encouraged to add personal Goals above.

I brought a dozen travelers along with me today from Alaska on this adventure hiking the beach abutting the north side of the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge. The attached photo shows all the visitors here at ground zero. My grandson and I were observing birds as we sought out this geocache here. While traveling along the beach, we photographed a half-dozen species of birds that were new discoveries for us!
