Stopped at a wayside rest area. The area is lush grassland called Bluestem Pasture Region or the Flint Hills. This is the largest native pasture land in the State. Wild fires regularly burn the old dry grasses clearing the way for the new.

Tonight we rest. We hope to see the OKC bombing memorial tomorrow. When we went out to CA there were winter storms rolling through the area. Unfortunately, winter storms are forecasted for this weekend also. Imagine, settlers trying to cross the Great Plains with horse or ox drawn carts; fighting winds, rain, tornadoes, & winter storms. We traveled 1090 miles in 2 days at about 70 miles per hour. I wonder how long it would take at 3 miles per hour?

I was sure if this cache was in NM or TX because it was ON a state line marker. Had fun watching the van clock keep switching between mountain & central time zones & back.
