About This Item

Sydney Lanier (1842 - 1881)    As a poet, composer and novelest Lanier contributed much to the arts of ninteenth century America His poems describing Georgia's rivers, marches and land are widley read.  among the most popular poems are The Song of the Chattahoochie and The Marches of Glenn. There are many tributes to Lanier around Georgia as well as around the country.  Lake Lanier in Hall County, Lanier County and several schools are named in his honor.
