About This Item

A beautiful geocoin commemorating South Africa's first ever MEGA Event, in an Antique Silver plating/finish.

300 Coins have been made at this special price.

The front of the coin shows the typical spoor (paw print) of the African Lion (Panthera leo). With the letters "MEGA" in each pad, coloured in the typical geocaching.com colours. The South African flag adorns the centre.

The back of the coin shows typical and significant symbols in the paw pads. The mining head gear symbolises "Gauteng" which means place of Gold. The Springbok is South Africa's national animal and is the symbol of our national sporting teams (Rugby). The King Protea is South Africa's national flower and is representative of the Fynbos flora which is one of the 6 floral kingdoms around the world. Fynbos is endemic and indigenous to South Africa, particularly in the Western Cape region. The Diamond symbolises beauty with strength (typical of South Africa), and the largest diamond ever found (the Cullinan Diamond) was in Cullinan, Pretoria. The centre shows the outline of the country of South Africa, with the Union Building relief which is a famous icon of the city of Pretoria.

This MEGA coin celebrates a wonderful World in one Country!
