HE MADE IT!!!
The Oregon Sunshine TB made it to Hurlburt Field, Florida. We (Gazelle2 and BadKnees) retrieved him from the S1, The Playing Fields cache in Fort Walton Beach this afternoon. He was in the third of six caches we were going after today. As soon as we read his travel wishes, we replanned the second half of our hunt so that we could take him to Hurlburt Field. The previous carriers got him pretty close but probably could not get onto Hurlburt during this heightened security situation.
I am going to add three photos to this log entry. The first two are of Oregon Sunshine in the hands of Gazelle2 on Hurlburt Field. These were taken in front of the UH-1P helicopter gunship in the Hurlburt Air Park. This particular helicopter is one that I flew in Vietnam in 1969 where I was a gunship instructor pilot in the 20th Special Operations Squadron. The third photo is of Oregon Sunshine in the hands of my hunting partner (BadKnees). She is standing in front of the AC-130 gunship in the same Hurlburt Air Park.
Our intention is to hold onto Oregon Sunshine for a couple of weeks and then BadKnees will escort him, via Delta Airlines, to Southern California where she will put him in a cache in the Chino Hills area. That should get him a good start on his way back to Oregon.
