Current Goal

To travel around the world while enjoying Blue Beetle's two favorite hobbies...fishing for and more specifically, trolling for salmon and of course...Geocaching!!!  Take pictures of this trek tag with your 'catch' or 'cache' wherever in the world it ends up.

Blue Beetle and his two cousins, Red Beetle (TB5DMZD) and Grasshopper (TB5DN24) are also in a race to see who can circumvent the world the quickest ie who can make it's way back to Alaska after enjoying some 'catching" and 'caching' around the world!

About This Item

Blue Beetle TB

Blue Beetle is trolling with his custom trek tag flasher with a 'hootchie' squid in tow.  Salmon love needlefish and that is what this micro 'hootchie' squid mimics. The flasher, that the trek tag represents, gives the bait (in this case, the squid) it's 'action'.  I have used this set up for years to catch salmon and many other types of fish while trolling in Resurrection Bay here in Alaska.

Trek tags are available from GxProxy and their distributors.  They can customize their standard trek tag with your name or can do a complete customization. The one used here has had my caching name inprinted on the back. GxProxy made the total customization shown in the attached photo for GeocacheAlaska!.  Quite nice dont you think!?!?!? This summer, I might even try hanging a hook on one of the trek tags and see if I can catch a salmon with it!!!  I would be willing to bet I can!!!  Any takers???

At 1:28 PM on June 20, 2018, no travel bugs existed in the Chac Mool cache. None were present in this cache when I arrived, owing primarily to Chac Mool being a micro sized cache.

We think blue beetle will like it here and there’s no telling where he will go next since it’s a cruise port!
