To venture to our nations Capital, Washington DC and perhaps travel along with someone in the Secret Service. Then to return home to Northern California (Red Bluff) to tell of all my adventures.
I am a travel bug that has the "Stars and Stripes" on me. I am also attached to a dog tag that belonged to my owner's grandfather, Elmer Kannenberg. Elmer was wounded in WWII. He was permanently disabled, confined to a wheelchair because he was paralyzed on his left side and also lost his ability to speak. He gave a lot in defense of our nation. He passed away in 1975 and was laid to rest in the Corning Cemetery in Northern California. Please make sure I get to my destination and accomplish my goal. My owner is an Air Force Security Forces veteran who was in Desert Storm and retired in the year 2000. My owner really contemplated sending out His grandfathers dog tag. But after much prayer I came to realize that my grandfather's dog tag really only has meaning when held in the hands of fellow cacher's and/or veterans, who then realize they are holding a piece of true history that was in the hands of a soldier who not only forged our country destiny during WWII, but was also instrumental in the turning point of the world becoming free as well. I hope this piece finds other veterans of foreign wars on its journey, and if you are able to share a story, good or bad, please do so in honor of all those who have served and gave a lot (wounded) or gave the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of this great nation. Please don't take out of circutlation. This is a trackable not a collectable.

Traveling from Alaska with our three horses and two dogs, enjoying our adventure. It was an honor to have been apart of this TB journey! We left it in a cemetery behind a VFW, seems like an appropriate place.

An honor to have this TB in our possession and will get it moving again soon. We had three young family members with us today geocaching and it made a good history lesson. We are from Alaska and in the area visiting family.

I just discovered this under the seat of my car by the grace of God! I have to tell you, we just got back from a trip to Washington dc and a conference with michelle obama at the white house. Coincidence, we visited Arlington while we were there, so your grandfather's dog tags have now been to Arlington, yet i didnt even know we had it with us!! I will send it on it's way back to d.c. to be put to rest. God speed.

Dropped off in a nice remote location, hopefully devoid of muffles, to continue the journey to Washington DC.

I picked this up from a cache near the Portland airport thinking it was a different trackable with a US Flag. When I returned to my hotel room and read the description, I seriously considered returning it to the cache. Not being a veteran, I didn't feel worthy to move this along. I hope you don't mind that I held on to it, however, and an honored to move this farther east towards its destination. I have a huge appreciation for current and past members of the military, and am awe-struck that this was actually carried by a soldier in WWII. I'm sure it was a hard decision to turn this loose, so please know that I'll treat with respect in honor of your Grandfather until I move it along after returning home.
