Current Goal

[8D] Well this little coin we earned as a Geocoin Challenge wants to travel the world meeting many cachers and seeing many places.  As we all know, traveling is what brings the world together.  There are so many great people in the world, so many great friends; yet to meet.....

MEMO: I have extensively traveled in the USA so please don't take me back there, Thank you!

About This Item

Most geocoins are content to sit in a velvet-lined drawer, but Chestnut Love was born with a restless metal soul.

Cast in the likeness of a noble horse head, with a flowing mane and an amber-colored eye that seemed to catch the light of a dozen different suns, this coin didn’t just travel—it migrated. Since it was first dropped into a hidden container in 2013, it has covered over 230,000 miles, a distance equivalent to circling the Earth nearly ten times.

Chestnut Love spent the bulk of its life crisscrossing the jagged borders of Europe. It didn't travel by hoof, but by the pockets of hikers, the backpacks of cyclists, and the gloveboxes of commuters.

  • The Bavarian Alps: For three months, the coin sat in a "Large" ammo can overlooking the Neuschwanstein Castle. It smelled of damp limestone and edelweiss until a hiker from Munich carried it north.

  • The Norwegian Fjords: It spent a winter tucked in a waterproof canister near the edge of a cliff in Geiranger, listening to the roar of freezing waterfalls.

  • The Streets of Prague: It was swapped in a "stealth-required" micro-cache hidden behind a loose brick in an alleyway that had seen five centuries of history.

By the time Chestnut Love hit the quarter-million-mile mark, the polished finish had begun to fade. The edges of the horse’s mane were softened by the friction of a thousand different hands.

To the casual observer, it was just a piece of metal. But to the Geocaching community, it was a legend. Whenever a "Cacher" found Chestnut Love, they didn't just log it; they told a story. They took photos of the horse head against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, the Roman Colosseum, and the white cliffs of Dover.

The coin became a digital ghost, leaving a trail of "pings" across the map of Europe—a jagged, zig-zagging line of blue dots that represented two decades of human movement.

There is a specific kind of magic in a trackable like Chestnut Love. It represents the "Love" in its name—the unwritten rule that says, "I found this, I will keep it safe, and I will move it closer to its next horizon."

As it traveled through the Mediterranean heat and the Baltic cold, the coin became a silent witness to the changing landscape of Europe. It saw the rise of smartphones, the shifting of borders, and the steady growth of a global community of treasure hunters.
