Current Goal

The goal for this GeoCoin is to make as many successful crossings of the Atlantic as possible. (Unsuccessful crossings do not count!)

Also, it wants to visit as many different countries that touch the Atlantic Ocean.

Of special interest:

France, where, during WWII, AB Mark Maloney was involved in helping to steal back a submarine from the Germans.

Ireland, from whence the Maloney clan sprung forth

Cape Breton, Arichat is the birthplace of Mark Maloney

About This Item

Battle of the Atlantic GeoCoin: AB Mark Maloney

This, officially, is a Remebrance Day 2012 Geocoin which came into our possession on Christmas 2012 from Ian's Auntie Dorothy. She gifted one geocoin to everyone in the family. This one is belongs to her brother-in-law who is Ians Dad.

Mark Maloney was a return man from WWII having served with the Merchant Marine, a storyteller, drinker, rum lad and my beloved grandfather.

I remember how he would often sing to me:

"There once was a lady from Brewster
Who was annoyed by the crow of a rooster.
She cut off 'is 'ead!
And now 'e is dead!
An' 'e sure don't crow like 'e used ter."

Lest we forget.
