Der kleine blaue Trabant möchte seine Brüder und Schwestern der verschiedensten Automarken in dessen Fabrikations Städten besuchen.

Dabei soll es gerne durch Deutschland, Europa und die weite Welt gehen.

Los gehts in Stuttgart wo gleich 2 große Weltmarken ihr Zuhause haben ( Mercedes Benz und Porsche).

Nach einer langen Reise würde er dann gerne wieder zur Wartung in seine Heimatstadt Zwickau ( Sachsen) zurückgebracht werden.

Vielen Dank an alle Cacher, die dem kleinen blauen Trabi ein Stück mitnehmen.

The little blue "Trabi" wants to visit his brothers and sisters of different car / automobile brands in their fabrication cities.

His journey can take him all across Germany, Europe an other countries around the world.

He starts in Stuttgart, Germany - the hometown of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

After his journey he would like to travel back for maintenance to his hometown "Zwickau", Saxony, Germany.

Thanks to all Cachers who take the little blue Trabi with them from cache to cache.

Trabant heißt die ab 1958 in der DDR in Serie gefertigte Pkw-Baureihe der Hersteller VEB Automobilwerk Zwickau und VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. Zwischen November 1957 (Nullserie) und April 1991 wurden in Zwickau insgesamt 3.051.385 Fahrzeuge der Trabant-Baureihe produziert. Beim deutschen Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt waren zum 1. Januar 2013 noch genau 32.485 Fahrzeuge in Deutschland registriert.

Der Trabant zählte bei seiner Premiere zu den ersten vollwertigen Kleinwagen-Baumustern, das neben Frontantrieb Platz für vier Erwachsene und Gepäck bot. Er galt als sparsam, erschwinglich und robust. Viele Fahrzeuge wurden in die ČSSR, nach Polen und Ungarn exportiert. Der Zweitaktmotor galt jedoch spätestens ab Mitte der 1960er-Jahre als nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Da die konsequente Weiterentwicklung des Trabant politisch verwehrt wurde, veraltete die Konstruktion zusehends. In den 1980er-Jahren war er aufgrund seiner unzeitgemäßen Karosserie und des Zweitaktmotors selbst in den sozialistischen Bruderländern fast unverkäuflich geworden. In der DDR bestand mangels Alternativen bis zur Wende eine unverändert große Nachfrage. Viele DDR-Bürger waren in einer Art Hassliebe mit ihrem Trabant verbunden, die bereits mit der lang verzögerten, aber letztlich doch überzeugenden Premiere des ersten Trabant P50 ihren Anfang nahm.

Im DDR-Sprachgebrauch wurde der Trabant meist Trabi (Trabbi) genannt. Das Auto entwickelte sich in den letzten Jahren bei „Ostalgikern“ und anderen Autoliebhabern zu einem Sammlerauto mit Kultstatus. Er steht symbolisch für die wirtschaftliche Erstarrung der DDR sowie deren Ende, als lange Trabantkolonnen die geöffnete Staatsgrenze passierten.

The Trabant /trəˈbɑːnt/ is a car that was produced by former East German auto maker VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau in Zwickau, Saxony. It was the most common vehicle in East Germany, and was also exported to countries both inside and outside the communist bloc. The main selling points were that it had room for four adults and luggage in a compact, light and durable shell; it was fast (when introduced); and it was durable.

With its poor performance, outdated and inefficient two-stroke engine (which returned poor fuel economy for the car's size and produced smoky exhaust), and production shortages, the Trabant is often cited as an example of the disadvantages of centralized planning; on the other hand, it is also regarded with derisive affection as a symbol of the failed former East Germany and of the fall of communism (in former West Germany, as many East Germans streamed into West Berlin and West Germany in their Trabants after the opening of the Berlin Wall in 1989). It was in production without any significant changes for nearly 30 years, with 3,096,099 Trabants produced in total.^[3] In 2008, Time magazine rated the Trabant as one of the 50 worst cars ever made.^[4] In the West, much has been written about the Trabant, mostly negative: to comedic effect, emphasis was placed on the shortcomings of the Trabant, rather than its good points, such as that it was simple to operate and easily repaired. However, many of the former owners of the Trabant still emphasize advantages such as high capacity—the Trabant being able to carry over 1000 kg of cargo^{[citation needed]}, and in some cases it has become trendy for collectors to import older models to the US due to their low cost and easier import restrictions on antique vehicles.
